Enhance The Look Of French Doors
THAT'S FRENCHY
French doors on their own, make a beautiful statement to a room. They are aesthetically pleasing to the eye, allow plenty of natural light to flood into the space and give you a wide open view to the outdoors. But with all of these benefits, there can be a need to add curtains to these doors to allow for privacy. This is certainly possible and will not take away from the beauty of the doors. All you need to do are these three steps.
1. Choose a curtain track. We have a wide selection of curtains tracks and for French Doors, we suggest selecting a ceiling mount track. A ceiling mount track can create a seamless look to the room and some of our tracks can even be recessed into the ceiling. Another option is the 6100 Flexible Curtain Track. It is a sleek, simple track that can be mounted to the ceiling or wall and even bent by hand if needed.
2. Choose end stops and curtain carriers. End stops keep the carriers or glides within the track. They can also anchor the curtain at the end of the track or mid track as needed and carriers allow for ease of movement of the curtains. Using high-quality drapery hardware allows the curtains to be opened and closed smoothly and quietly.
3. Select curtains. There are a couple schools of thought when it comes to adding curtains to French Doors. You can choose a curtain that is room darkening if you are looking for complete privacy or you can select a curtain that is light and airy yet still compliments the doors. There are curtains available that are thinner (similar to shears) that provide some privacy while still allowing light to shine into the room.
We love the look of French doors but adding curtains doesn't have to take away from their beauty, it can enhance it. Follow the steps above and once you are done dressing up your doors, we would love to see a picture to share on our blog.
