Extra Curtain Track? Don’t Throw It Away!

After you complete that project using Curtain-Tracks’ tracks and accessories, you may find yourself with a little extra on hand. When this is the case, don’t throw that track away. Instead, use it in a creative way! Here we share some unique uses for that extra track.

A NEW LOOK

How about removing that old closet door and replacing that door with fabulous curtains? If you happen to have extra track, add that across the frame of the closet door, at the top of the frame, or even to the ceiling above the door, then select the curtain for your new closet door. To make the room feel larger and luxurious, add long, full curtains.

GAME TIME!

Curtain-Track’s customer, Libby, used the Extra Heavy Duty track to make a hockey back stop in her garage for her kids. The track is super strong and with solid carriers, she attached a heavy tarp to catch all of those hockey pucks. Now, you may not have enough extra curtain track for something like this, but our customer service team is available to help should you be interested in starting a project like this one.

MORE IDEAS

How about using extra curtain track to create a puppet stage for your kiddos? Or, create a statement by adding curtain tracks to the ceiling behind your bed and adding curtains to create an accent wall or a headboard. What about creating an extra storage space in the basement or garage? The options are endless!

HERE FOR YOU

Whatever you decide, our friendly customer service team is here to help. Give us a call and we will brainstorm with you and find a use for that extra track (or tracks)! You can also check out our Blog for more ideas.

Creating A Pantry Space In An Older Home

MAKE SPACE

Older homes, while having a ton of character and architectural detail, often have small closets and a lack of storage in the kitchen. The reasoning behind the lack of space in these older homes is because at the time, individuals did not own a lot of clothing or have excess food to store. This means these fantastic looking homes need a little modern improvisation when it comes to creating space, like a pantry. Rest assured, creating a space for a pantry is easier than you may think.

GET CREATIVE

To create a pantry, find a small space in your home. The space doesn't necessarily need to be in the kitchen, it can be in a corner in a rarely used dining room, a section in the basement or even in the garage. Once you select your location, buy shelving units to accommodate your items. Use varying heights for your shelves which will help you maximize your space allowing for storage for tall cereal boxes and smaller spaces for canned goods. You can find a variety of shelving units at Home Depot, Lowe’s or The Container Store.

Once you have your shelves put together, add the 6100 Flexible Curtain Track. This flexible curtain track allows for long continuous lengths for curved or angled applications, but can also be used for straight applications. It can be bent by hand to fit your space, meaning it works for even corner spaces. Once you have your track installed, purchase carriers like the 6111 Flexible Curtain Track Carriers. These carriers are white plastic wheel carriers with metal loop and work smoothly with the 6100 Flexible Curtain Track. Once you have your track and carriers, just add decorative curtains. We offer a variety of curtain patterns for you to choose from or you can purchase curtains that are perfect for your home decor.

READY TO GO

Once you have found your space, installed your curtain track, carriers and curtains, all you need to do when you need an item, is simply pull the curtains back. When you have everything you need to make that big family dinner, pull those curtains closed and your pantry is concealed. We’ve said it before and will say it again - curtain tracks can be used for more than just windows. Check out our other blog posts for more creative ideas!

Enhancing The Look Of A Hotel Lobby

MAKE A STATEMENT

Curtain tracks aren't just for window curtains. Many interior designers use fabrics to accent features of a room beyond just the windows. Decorative wall panels are one option, and here, fabric panels were hung with 84004 track and 84106 wheeled snap tape carriers to give this hotel lobby a striking feature while enhancing the look of a traditional column. The corded carriers give the panels a beautiful, consistent ripple fold pleat look.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The 84004 Ball Bearing Carrier Curtain Track works extremely well for this project. It is a ceiling mount aluminum architectural track that accommodates smooth rolling ball bearing carriers. Available in white or silver, it comes in 8 foot sections which can be mounted end to end for wider spans. Pairing this track with the 84106 Wheeled Snap Carrier, it allows for easy movement. Available in white or black nylon, the snap pendant rotates in a wheeled base. By adding these panels to the columns, the decorator turned the entire look of the hotel lobby around. We think it makes quite the first impression.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Whether your project is in a home, hotel, hospital, RV or boat, curtain tracks can be used in many ways. If you are an interior designer and are in need in curtain tracks, hardware or accessories, we would love to help. We also have a "To The Trade" discount program intended for Interior Designers and Architects and we invite you to contact our customer service team at (888) 434-7444 to learn more.

Curtains Aren't Just For Windows Anymore

DIFFERENT IS GOOD

Over the years we have talked to customers who have used curtain tracks and curtains in a variety of ways. In fact, we have an entire category on our blog dedicated to this very topic. So if you are feeling like you are in a creative rut, keep reading, and we will share some fun uses for our products.

BEDROOMS, BASEMENTS AND GARAGES

Finding another use for a product, other than the one it was originally created for, can be fun and functional. We have had customers use our curtain tracks, hardware and accessories in ways that you wouldn't even imagine and we think the results are pretty fantastic. One such design idea includes using curtains and curtain tracks along a bedroom wall. The floor-to-ceiling lush fabric of the curtains creates a beautiful backdrop that also serves as a headboard and the focus when you walk in the room is immediately drawn to this focal point.

Another Curtain-Tracks customer, Carrie, used the 6100 Flexible Curtain Track to create a sound booth in her basement. With her career taking off and the opportunity to work from home, she wanted to create a sound booth that not only looked good, but also worked well. Her basement has a drop ceiling, so installation was quite easy with the use of drop ceiling clamps. To ensure the curtains would stay closed when she is recording and to help eliminate distractions, she made sure the lead carrier on each panel is a magnetic catch carrier that holds the curtains together with just a bit of overlap, which also helps keep out sound.

Another completely unique use for curtain tracks includes a project that customer, Libby, completed in her garage a while ago. She wanted to create a hockey backstopfor her kids so she used Curtain-Tracks Extra Heavy Duty track and heavy duty trolly, aka super strong carrier, and a durable tarp. Now she has the coolest garage in the neighborhood!

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

These are just a few fun examples of how you can use Curtain-Tracks products for your next project. There are so many other creative uses, including concealing a water heater, adding curtain tracks to a golf cart or creating an art station or art gallery. Have you used our products in a unique way? Tell us all about it!

The Garage Gets a Facelift with Curtain Walls

MULTI PURPOSE

Did you know that only 84% of Americans use their garage to park a car? Things like storage and workspace are beginning to invade garage space, according to a recent poll. Because of the flexibility needed in a garage, we would like to suggest a curtain wall created by some of Curtain-Tracks products.

HIDE THE CLUTTER

The first curtain wall in the garage could be used to partition and hide storage space. Many homeowners line the walls of their garage with their yard tools, lawn mower, out of season shoes, toys, etc., etc., etc. Although it makes sense to store these things in the garage, it also creates a visual nightmare that makes some homeowners embarrassed by the space. (Almost 1 in 4 homeowners report that their garage is too cluttered.)

Creating a curtain wall as a visual barrier can immediately create a feeling of calm and order in the garage. This visual boundary can also add a bit of flair and design to the garage, as a warm welcome home after a long day at work. Much better than a welcome home to chaos and reminders of projects that are not yet complete.

HIDE THE PROJECT NOISE AND MESS

The second curtain wall that could be used in a garage is one that can be opened and closed depending on what project is happening at the time. If your spouse is cutting tile, for example, a curtain track surrounding the wet saw would help to catch any spraying water and would also dampen the sound. We would recommend one of our heavier duty tracks for this purpose, such as our Extra Heavy Duty Track. This track has an industrial look that will fit an industrial space, and is made of aluminum which will hold up to the elements of a garage while also keeping it’s strength. You could also use a Flexible Track to create a curtain wall with an unusual shape, or any of the additional tracks listed here.

Because of the nature of a garage, we suggest using one of our more rugged, industrial curtains. We have a few that are not listed on our website, so give us a call at 1-888-434-7444 to learn more about these products. Another option for the more budget conscious DIYer is using a tarp from your local hardware store. Hanging a tarp or heavy duty curtain in a space like this can contain the dust and even some of the sound that comes along with projects happening in the garage.

So, what project have you been putting off? Why not create a fun and functional space in your garage today and start checking off your to-do list?
