HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Summer is coming to a close and that means college students are moving in for the first time or returning to school in just a few short weeks. Dorm rooms historically haven't been particularly glamorous but colleges and universities are making vast updates to their housing options to attract more students. Even with the addition of private rooms and apartment-style living, the traditional dorm room still exists. This type of room usually consists of bunk beds, a couple desks and dressers and they don’t have a lot of frill, or privacy, for that matter. For those who live in a dorm room such as this, creating a space with a bit of privacy isn’t completely out of the question.
We have worked with students across the country to create this privacy by adding curtain tracks and curtains to their bunk beds. Adding curtains to a bunk bed can create a comfortable study space and help eliminate distractions (like your roommate). The curtains can be pulled closed to keep light from coming in, especially for any mid afternoon naps! If eclipse curtains are used, they not only block out light, they help absorb sound. That's a win-win!
For a project like this, our ceiling-mounted curtain tracks will work to transform your bunk or loft into your private space. These tracks can be installed directly into the ceiling if you have a loft, you can use clamps if your room has a drop ceiling, or you can add them in the frame of a bunk bed to cover the bottom bunk. After the track is installed, add our Bunk Bed Privacy Curtains. This awesome fabric is not only machine washable, it also blocks 98% of light. They are 48 inches wide and 36 inches tall and are available in beige, navy and black. But if you need different sizing, simply give us a call and we can make custom curtains for you!
SCHOOL'S IN SESSION
As unconventional as adding curtains to a bunk bed or loft may sound, it provides a solution that can help students get through the school year. Let us help you with your project. Give us a call at (888) 465-0274 to speak with one of our friendly customer service team members!
When you want to add curtain tracks to a large space, like a wall of windows, as a room divider, or in a conference room, you need multiple tracks. Several of our tracks come in 8' foot or 12' sections but you can lay multiple tracks end to end for a seamless track for your space.
STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW
Installing multiple curtain tracks is definitely possible and will look great when finished if you use the right drapery hardware, tools, and a level. Our 88001 Privacy Cubicle Curtain Track, an aluminum track with silver satin finish that is available in 6', 8', 12' and 16' sections, and the 4108 Bendable I-Beam Curtain Track, available in silver or black anodized aluminum I-Beam track with satin finish and comes in 8' lengths, can be spliced end to end with 4128 ceiling splicer or 4130 wall splicer.
ALIGN YOUR PRINCIPALS
If you are aligning tracks without splicers, the tracks need to be fully aligned to minimize the seam and reduce the carriers from catching on a seam when in use. If at all possible, placing the seam of the curtain tracks as close to the middle of the space as possible where the curtains meet will help minimize the carriers catching on the track.

We hear a lot about curb appeal and how it is important for homeowners looking to sell their home. Realtors and even HGTV stress the importance of an attractive entryway, nice landscaping, and making sure even the littlest details are take care of, like the paint isn’t chipping around the front door.
GAINING NEW CUSTOMERS
Having nice curb appeal is also important for store owners and restaurant owners. According to the National Restaurant Association, there are 1+ million restaurants in the United States. That means restaurants have A LOT of competition. And while the quality of the food is of the upmost importance, with restaurants on every corner, getting new customers in the front door of the restaurant in the first place can be a challenge. This is when curb appeal is especially important.
We found this image of a restaurant owner who we think, did a great job with their curb appeal. Not only do they have welcoming bistro tables outside the restaurant, they also have an awning to give their establishment a quaint look. To top it all off, their windows have fantastic, eye-catching patterned curtains hung on curtain tracks. We are unsure if these curtains are on a ceiling mount curtain track or a wall mount track, or if they are plastic or aluminum. Regardless, the end result is very nice!
If you are a restaurant or retail owner and are looking for ways to create a great first impression for new customers, as well as returning ones, we suggest taking a fresh look at the outside of your establishment. Look at it with wide open eyes as if you were looking at it for the first time. What would you think? Is it welcoming? Then ask yourself, “What can I do to enhance the curb appeal?” Whether that be new signage, fresh landscaping or curtains in your windows, small changes can mean big results with customers.
"Say Yes To The Dress" is a popular tv show on TLC featuring women trying on dozens of wedding dresses. Everything from simple under-stated dresses to lavish, over-the-top gowns are tried on as each woman strives to find the perfect one so they can "Say Yes To The Dress"! If you haven't seen this show, it really is quite entertaining. One of the things we have observed over the years is bridal salons have spacious changing rooms but rarely will you see a door. Our best guess is that this is most likely to avoid a several thousand dollar gown getting accidentally smashed in the door as the bride-to-be tries to close it to get changed. This is when curtain tracks come in handy!
TIME TO CHANGE
There are many curtain track options when it comes to changing rooms. Curtain-Tracks.com customer, Tracy Burke, owns bridal shops NY Bride in Charlotte, NC and Syracuse, NY used the 3118 curtain track and 7130 double wheel curtain carriers in her bridal salon. The 3118 curtain track is made of silver anodized aluminum with satin finish and is available in either 8 foot length plus 4 foot length or two 6 foot pieces (12 feet total). It mounts on the ceiling and no mounting brackets are required. The 7130 nylon wheel carriers allow for an easy opening and closing of the changing room curtains and works well with the 3118 curtain track. Whether you own a bridal salon, a large retail store or a boutique, adding curtains to your changing rooms can soften the entire look of your store.

Not everyone will admit it, but most people enjoy an occasional pampering, whether that be a massage, pedicure or facial. Spas are easily found and competition to be the best can be quite fierce. As a spa owner, how you actually treat customers isn’t the only important factor. The overall experience along with the physical environment of your spa can set you apart from your competitors.
When a customer walks in the door, what do they see? First impressions are critical so creating a welcoming environment is key. Are the colors and lighting soft? Is there music playing? Or is the main reception area stark and uninviting? One spa we visited took the first impressions to heart. They had serene music softly playing, aroma therapy filling the air and a friendly receptionist. This spa had extremely high ceilings so they added lovely, sheer curtains that were pulled to the side. Without the curtains, the room would have felt stark and cold and not exactly relaxing. Adding ceiling mount curtain tracks and beautiful curtains softened the feel of the entire room.
As if the welcoming reception area wasn't enough, this same spa had an upscale changing room with lockers and several amenities (plush robes and melon infused water, anyone?). They also had individual changing rooms with the same curtains that were found in the reception area. The curtains were very full (no skimping on material going on here) and closed easily on the curtain tracks allowing for complete privacy. Just another touch to make this spa feel luxurious.
AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION
Your customers come to you to relax and a spa that exudes serenity will keep them coming back time and time again. What can you do to your spa to enhance the the overall experience for your customers and stand out from the competition?
SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER
School might be out for summer which makes this a great time to get those copy room, storage areas and classrooms in order! To create a “tidy” space everyone can enjoy come this fall when school is back in session, try this tip!
The Mayo Clinic wrote an article, "How Decluttering Your Space Could Make You Healthier And Happier". While this article focuses on tips that can help us as individuals, the same could be applied to a workspace. We know schools have a lot of supplies and rightfully so. But if you want to create a space that at least *appears* less cluttered and can eliminate some stress for the teachers and staff, well, that's a start. One suggestion we have is to consider hanging curtain tracks in front of a storage area (copy paper and staplers, anyone?). These copy/storage rooms often have shelves to store classroom necessities but the space can quickly become unkempt. Adding a curtain that can be closed around the storage space when not in use can keep a room from looking as though everything is in disarray.
When it comes to selecting a curtain, we have a wide variety to choose from and can even custom make one for you so it fits perfectly. If you are looking for something just a bit different and perhaps, motivating, you might want to consider ordering a curtain with a motivational quote. Etsy is an online marketplace that offers some unique styles to choose from and CafePress.com will allow you to customize a curtain with a photo (perhaps even a photo from the staff holiday party)!
Although adding a curtain to conceal a storage area doesn't necessarily help with the actual organization of the items placed on those shelves, when pulled closed, it can give the entire room a feeling of organziation and tidiness and hopefully eliminate some of that stress that disorderly places can cause. If you take on a project like this, we would love to feature your photos in a future blog post! Simply contact us at email@example.com!
ON THE STAGE
If you have ever attended a community theatre production, you were supporting an organization and individuals who enjoy the arts and creativity. In fact, there is a national organization called the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) and they also support these theatres throughout the country, encouraging others to get involved and provide quality entertainment to the communities they serve. They hold conferences throughout the year and an event called AACTFest, America’s National Community Festival, all to spread the word and educate those involved in community theatres.
Community theatre productions are usually quite sophisticated. Props, lighting and sound are on-point and the stage is equipped with curtains that are used before, during and after the play. The 3120 Extra Heavy Duty Curtain Track is a great option when it comes to theatre curtains. The heavy eight of these curtains can be a lot for a track to handle but the 3120 track is up to the task. We know the size of the stage varies from theatre to theatre so this track is available in a variety of lengths - 8 foot and 4 foot or 6 foot and 6 foot sections for shipping, but can also be shipped in 12 foot sections – just give us a call for shipping information. Once you have your track, you can use 7140 Double Wheel or 7146 Short Snap Carriers with this track. Simply add the red velvet curtains and your stage is complete!
We know it takes a lot of hard work and dedication to put on a production and we are pleased to support community theatre organizations throughout the country. If your organization is in need of heavy duty, high quality curtain tracks for your stage our friendly customer service team is here for you. We will help you through the ordering process all the way through installation. Simply give us a call at 888-434-7444. Now, go break a leg!
According to a study, people spend approximately 420 minutes a week in the bathroom so you just might want to consider sprucing it up just a tad. One simple way to do that is to update the look of your shower with a new shower curtain. A fantastic shower curtain can really set the tone for a bathroom. However, if your bathroom has a tall ceiling, you may be wondering how you can create an elegant look. This is when the Recmar 7185 Beaded Chain Curtain Drop comes into play.
The Beaded Chain Curtain Drops are often used with privacy cubicle curtains to allow enough space for sprinkler systems in the event of a fire. But these drop chains can also help close the gap between a curtain and the ceiling mount curtain track system (like on tall ceilings in a bathroom!).
Available in 12”, 16.5” or 28.5” lengths, the Beaded Chain (Ball Chain) Drop comes with Eyelets and Hook. The brass chain and eyelet is nickel plated with a stainless steel hook, helping to prevent rust or corrosion from water or steam. Another great feature is if the lengths of the chain aren’t the exact perfect length, the eyelets are removable which allow you to create a custom length for your project. And don't forget, when it comes to your shower curtains, we offer custom sized shower curtains in a variety of materials ranging from commercial grade vinyl to fabrics.
Ready to redecorate that bathroom and give the drop chains a try? Contact us with any questions and we’d love to see your before and after pictures!
If you live in a home with a sloped ceiling you may be wondering to yourself, "How in the world can I even hang curtains in this room?" We've heard it from other customers so you wouldn't be the first one with this question. We are here to assure you, it is indeed possible!
ON A SLANT
When it comes to mounting a curtain track and curtains on a ceiling with a slope or slant, we suggest you start with our product line of suspension hardware. Suspension hardware is designed to mount to a slanted or sloped ceiling but provides a track system that is horizontal, and above all, level. Depending on the room and the end design goal, many customers add curtains and drapes to the track to create a room divider. This is especially popular in loft apartments and condos and other rooms that have tall ceilings.
HOW LOW WILL YOU GO?
When we work with customers on a project like this, we talk about the room, the direction of the slant in the ceiling as well as how far down the track should go. We work with each customer to help them decide what track is best for the project, whether it's the 88001 Privacy Cubicle Track, an aluminum track in silver or white and available in 6 foot, 8 foot, 12 foot and 16 foot sections, the Privacy Cubicle Curtain Track 90 Degree Bend, a track bent to a 90 degree angle with a 12 inch bend radius measured on the inside edge of the track and can be spliced with straight sections for L" and "U" shaped configurations, or the Privacy Cubicle Curtain Track 45 Degree Bend, a track that can be bent to a 45 degree angle with a 12 inch bend radius measured on the inside edge of the track and has a 34 inch run in each direction.
Intimidated by all of this? Never fear - the Curtain-Tracks friendly customer service team is here to help! We love a challenge and are here to make sure you select the perfect track and accessories for your project. We will even help you with installation tips.
Don't let that sloped ceiling get you down... let us help you finish the design of the room!
