When it comes to choosing curtains for your windows, how do you know which style you should choose? A single panel for your window, or dramatic curtains, or perhaps contrast curtains, etc.? The possibilities are endless. Here we will tackle a few different options that hopefully will make the decision making process a bit easier.
SINGLE CURTAIN PANELS
A single curtain panel can create a simple look to a room but also be functional when closed. Keep it closed or simply pull it open by simply sweeping it to the side. To add a finished look to your window, you can have custom tie-backs made (we can help!). Curtain tie-backs add that polished look and can create a simple yet elegant touch to any room. They are especially effective with floor-to-ceiling curtains and curtains used on sliding glass doors.
If you are looking to create a dramatic look with curtains hung on ceiling mount curtain tracks, especially in a more formal space such as a living room, Interior Decor Trends suggests, "The living room curtains can also be an aesthetic accent to take the viewer by surprise. If the living room is spacious and bright enough, you can opt for dramatic blackout curtains in dark color. The same goes for the living room in white or the one with light wood furniture. Velvet and other thick fabrics add even more dramatic effect to this design."
Another current curtain trend (pun intended) Decor Aid shares are contrasting colors on eclipse curtains. They suggest, "Look for contrasting drapes that boast a strong color juxtaposed with a warm neutral for a stylishly layered look with ease. And as contrasting window treatments lend a modern spirit to any room, pair them with minimal fittings for a clean and polished look, and go for colors you know you won’t tire of quickly."

Patients demand privacy, as well they should. So as new acute care hospitals are being built, they are accommodating these patient requests by building all private patient rooms. As older hospitals try to keep pace, they are renovating semi-private rooms to private rooms. But even in private rooms with a solid door, additional privacy is needed when the door is opened by a doctor, nurse, or visitor.
Curtain tracks have long been a familiar sight in hospitals and even with the emergence of private rooms, they are still needed around the patient's bed. When the curtains are closed, these tracks and curtains allow for privacy when the door to the room is open. Oftentimes, curtain tracks are mounted to the ceiling on just one side or 3/4 of the way around the patient's bed. A frequently used curtain track is our 88001 Privacy Cubicle Track, an aluminum track with silver satin finish and is available in 6 foot, 8 foot, 12 foot and 16 foot sections.
OPEN AND CLOSED
The curtains that hang on these tracks are privacy curtains and they are often in soothing colors and patterns. They are made of top quality construction with a triple thick 1.5 inch header reinforced with a middle layer of nylon mesh at the top. These curtains have Safe-T-Stitching which locks in hems and seams and the grommets are rustproof nickel plated brass. Privacy curtains are 100% flame retardant per NFPA #701 standards and are also, BONUS: machine washable up to 160 degrees F! These privacy cubicle curtains not only look great, they also hold up in the toughest hospital. Our privacy curtains are available in any height but be sure to include ceiling height and the length of the curtain track when requesting a quote.

Adding curtain tracks to a bay window is easier than ever when you use Flexible Curtain Track 6100. This flexible track can be used for curved or angled applications, but also for straight applications, making it perfect for bay windows. ADDING MORE WINDOWS
Another popular home design trend is actually adding windows to your home. Adding windows opens up a room and can even make a space feel larger. So even in colder climates, you can enjoy nature from the comforts of the inside of your home but be sure to choose quality insulated windows that will be energy efficient.

Our Wall Mount Curtain Track selection is one of the best around and our customers especially love the Recmar 5400 CurtainMate Curtain Track. The 5400 CurtainMate is a wall mount track and is available in 3 foot sections. The shorter sections of track make it especially useful in RVs that have limited space. However, if you need more track for longer lengths, the track can be joined end to end. The 5400 CurtainMate Track is narrow and only protrudes less than .5 inch away from where it is mounted. This is important because it allows very little light to shine into the RV when the curtains are closed, meaning better sleep for the family!
The CurtainMate Curtain Track has mounting holes spaced every 9 inches and can even be bent to a 15 inch radius horizontally, and vertically 5 inches per 36 inch section. To bend it slightly, all you need to do is heat the track in hot water and bend it gently. It is available in a variety of colors, including: white, brown, gray, black, tan, dark desert and dark slate and works well with 3070 snap carriers (available in white or black) and 5034 end caps, available in the same colors as the CurtainMate track.
When it comes to all of our curtains tracks and accessories, you can expect a high quality product and exceptional, personalized customer service that is second to none. Let us help you with your next project, whether in an RV, truck, boat, workplace or home.
IT'S A SNAP!
What exactly is snap tape? This isn't an uncommon question and quite frankly, we get asked it often. In fact, we have wriiten a popular blog post on this very topic sharing instructions on how you can add snap tape to your curtain panels.
The long and short of it is snap tape comes in a roll and is made with 1-inch wide polyester webbing and nickel plated brass snaps spaced 4.25 inches apart. It can be sewn directly onto a curtain you have purchased or custom made curtains and is especially popular on ripple fold draperies. The benefit of snap tape is it allows for easy removal of the curtains from the drapery hardware and eliminates the need to remove any hooks which is great when you are wanting to clean the curtains. It can also create a full look with your curtains when it is used with our 84106 carrier. If you just love the ripple fold look when your curtains are closed, the 84106 Wheeled Carrier- Corded for Ripple Fold is a fantastic choice. When attached to the snaps, this system will hold the ripples at desired uniform spacing. When it comes to curtain tracks, check out the 84003 & 84004.
For step by step instructions on using snap Tape on your curtain panels, check out our blog post! We are also always eager to help! You can contact our friendl;y customer service team with any questions at 1-888-465-0274.
Hotels are often a host venue for business meetings as well as professional development such as continuing education courses and workshops. They are convenient locations for events like these because guests can stay overnight then simply walk to the meeting room for their course.
Oftentimes, hotel meeting rooms aren't very fancy. They usually have tables set in rows, a table or bar area for coffee and water, and a screen at the front that the instructor can use while presenting. Sometimes these rooms have large windows that look out towards a pool area or even a road. This is when room darkening curtains and curtain tracks come in. Hotel meeting rooms almost always have curtains to cover the windows for a couple reasons.
1. They are room darkening. This is especially important when the instructor is presenting a PowerPoint presentation and the room needs to be darkened for attendees to see the slides more clearly.
2. Closing the curtains can prevent distractions. An all-day seminar is exhausting for anyone but add in distractions such as kids running and jumping into the pool, and well, that can be just plain depressing. Pulling the curtains closed can help avoid some of those distractions.
HERE COME THE CURTAIN TRACKS
When it comes to the best curtain tracks to use for a project like this, we offer a variety to accommodate your project. Ceiling mount curtain tracks are a great option when looking to cover large floor to ceiling windows. Ceiling mount curtain tracks can be mounted to the ceiling or other horizontal surfaces by screwing it directly into the ceiling through mounting holes. They can also be attached to the ceiling with specific ceiling mount hardware such as clips, clamps, brackets, or retainers. When it comes to curtains, you are sure to find a style and print that you love on our website.
After you add curtains to match the decor of the room as well as a wand to pull the curtains open and closed to avoid getting dirty handprints on them, your meeting room is ready to go!
Most hotels know what they are doing when it comes to their window treatments. They usually have fantastic eclipse curtains and sheers on their windows and make quite a statement in the room. When pulled closed, the sheers give the room some privacy while still allowing light to shine in, and the eclipse curtains darken the room and help block sound allowing guests to get some solid sleep.
A DIFFERENT LOOK
On a recent visit to Kentucky, we noticed the hotel where we stayed did indeed have some great eclipse curtains on solid curtain tracks. Many hotels use the 84004 Ball Bearing Carrier Curtain Track This is a sturdy aluminum track that accommodates the 84100 smooth rolling ball bearing carriers. These steel ball bearings inside wheels allow for ease of movement on the curtain track. Usually hotels have a second curtain track with white sheers on a second curtain track, but not this hotel. Instead they had a thin white blind that could be lowered. When pulled down, the blind gave the room a bit of a modern feel. Adding a blind is just another way to cover your window to create privacy.
When it comes to your window treatments, you have lots of options and we have lots of answers! We encourage you to visit our Photo Gallery for ideas and inspiration and are available to answer all of your questions regarding curtain tracks, curtains, accessories and design.
HERE COMES THE SUN
For those who are fortunate to live in southern states during these cold winter months, you may be spending some time outdoors. If this is the case, why not create some privacy like C-T customer Jennifer W. did when she added curtain tracks to her lanai?
KEEP THE PEACE
Jennifer has a pool with a great lanai surrounding it. To create some privacy, she wanted to add curtains that could be left open or pulled closed for privacy. She decided to use the 42124 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track mounted to the frame of her lanai along with snap tape and snap carriers. This aluminum curtain track is available in silver or black and can be mounted end to end for longer lengths. The 42124 track is compatible with 3 different carriers: 7120 Single Snap Carrier (used with 3090 snap tape), 7122 Button Carrier w/ Stainless Hook, and 7124 Button Carrier and the 7127 end stop.
To complete the look, she used weather-proof material for her curtains. The beauty of adding curtains and curtain tracks to an outdoor space like this is it doesn’t just create visual privacy from the neighbors, but it can also help contain sound. For example, if you have kids who love to play and yell in the pool, curtains can help keep the sound from traveling to the neighbors. Adding curtains to a lanai can also be helpful when it comes to sun protection. Many lanais offer UV protection but not all screen enclosures do. Adding UV protected curtains can be helpful when it comes to sun protection.
Even if you don't live in a part of the country that has warm days throughout the year, you can still start thinking about a summer project where you add curtain tracks and curtains to your lanai, screened in porch or pergola. We have everything you need!
We are in the height of basketball season and have had the pleasure of working with arenas and colleges across the country. A Curtain-Tracks team member recently attended a college game (unfortunately her team lost - it's been a tough year!), but she noticed the curtain tracks that were at every entrance from the concourse area to the arena. Each entrance was equipped with fantastic curtain tracks!
MUSIC IS IN THE AIR
For sporting events, the curtains on these tracks are pulled open and to the side. You may not even notice them. For concerts however, these curtains get pulled closed once the performance starts. There’s a good reason for this! The curtains (which are often eclipse curtains), when closed shut, help keep sound from traveling and also block out light. When there is a concert, these curtains are especially helpful to create an environment that is dark except for the light on the stage.
Oftentimes, arenas and stadiums will use the 84004 Ball Bearing Curtain Track. It is a strong aluminum track that is available in 8 foot sections and can handle tugging and pulling on the curtains from the ushers. Add smooth rolling ball bearing carriers and eclipse curtains, and the look is complete.
The next time you visit an arena, look to see if they use curtain tracks and thick, light blocking curtains to keep the sound from the concourse from traveling into the arena, and vice versa. You might just see some of our products!
After you complete that project using Curtain-Tracks’ tracks and accessories, you may find yourself with a little extra on hand. When this is the case, don’t throw that track away. Instead, use it in a creative way! Here we share some unique uses for that extra track.
A NEW LOOK
How about removing that old closet door and replacing that door with fabulous curtains? If you happen to have extra track, add that across the frame of the closet door, at the top of the frame, or even to the ceiling above the door, then select the curtain for your new closet door. To make the room feel larger and luxurious, add long, full curtains.
Curtain-Track’s customer, Libby, used the Extra Heavy Duty track to make a hockey back stop in her garage for her kids. The track is super strong and with solid carriers, she attached a heavy tarp to catch all of those hockey pucks. Now, you may not have enough extra curtain track for something like this, but our customer service team is available to help should you be interested in starting a project like this one.
How about using extra curtain track to create a puppet stage for your kiddos? Or, create a statement by adding curtain tracks to the ceiling behind your bed and adding curtains to create an accent wall or a headboard. What about creating an extra storage space in the basement or garage? The options are endless!
HERE FOR YOU
Whatever you decide, our friendly customer service team is here to help. Give us a call and we will brainstorm with you and find a use for that extra track (or tracks)! You can also check out our Blog for more ideas.
