HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Summer is coming to a close and that means college students are moving in for the first time or returning to school in just a few short weeks. Dorm rooms historically haven't been particularly glamorous but colleges and universities are making vast updates to their housing options to attract more students. Even with the addition of private rooms and apartment-style living, the traditional dorm room still exists. This type of room usually consists of bunk beds, a couple desks and dressers and they don’t have a lot of frill, or privacy, for that matter. For those who live in a dorm room such as this, creating a space with a bit of privacy isn’t completely out of the question.

MOVING IN

We have worked with students across the country to create this privacy by adding curtain tracks and curtains to their bunk beds. Adding curtains to a bunk bed can create a comfortable study space and help eliminate distractions (like your roommate).The curtains can be pulled closed to keep light from coming in, especially for any mid afternoon naps! If eclipse curtains are used, they not only block out light, they help absorb sound. That's a win-win!

PRIVATE SPACE

For a project like this, our ceiling-mounted curtain tracks will work to transform your bunk or loft into your private space. These tracks can be installed directly into the ceiling if you have a loft, you can use clamps if your room has a drop ceiling, or you can add them in the frame of a bunk bed to cover the bottom bunk. Most kids love playing in forts. Whether it's a treehouse in the yard or a homemade fort in the living room, these fun enclosures bring out the best in imagination. BUNK BEDS AND ROOM DIVIDERS

We have had many customers add our curtain tracks to bunk beds. Adding tracks and curtains can allow for more privacy (like night reading when a sibling is trying to sleep) as well as a small space for play. We have also had parents add curtain tracks to the ceiling in a child's room or in a small area of the basement. When the curtains are closed, it divides the space-play room on one side, bed on the other. Not only does it create a fun area that can be dedicated to play, it can also conceal all of the toys.
