Creating Elegance With Pleated Curtains
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
Pleated curtains. We love them. They add a beautiful finished look to windows and will make all who see them envious of your design style. Pleated curtains have a sense of elegance to them and they allow you to try out some different pieces of hardware that you may not be completely familiar with.
If the pleated look is something you are trying to achieve, rest assured you CAN do it. Just follow these steps:
- Lay out the fabric
- Pinch the pleat in the front
- Fold the fabric into an accordion shape
- Sew a small seam top to bottom
- Double fold the edges on the top and bottom.
There are some options when it comes to drapery hardware. You can use Tail Slides (available in black, white and natural) into the pocket of the pleat. A tail slide eliminate the need for a carrier as it slides on the track on its own. When using tail slides in this way, you will need to use the 3296 aluminum curtain track.
The other option is to use a Drapery Hook placed into the middle of the pleat. Curtains hooks are a bit more familiar in the curtain hanging world. It hooks in the curtain pleat and requires a carrier to attach to the track. When using drapery hooks and carriers, chances are you can use whatever track you prefer, even if that means sticking with your existing curtain track.
