Hanging Curtains on Tall Windows
We’re not going to lie, decorating tall windows can be intimidating. Two-story and other tall windows are becoming common features of roomy, modern homes, but are a challenge for hanging window treatments. We’ve noticed that some home owners simply give up without hanging anything. This approach will certainly put you in the clean, simple, modern design category, but may also push you right into the stark, sterile, and cold category. You’ve got to warm up those windows with some curtains.
NOT-SO-HOT RODS
Even just a set of simple sheers on two-story windows is striking. Visitors will goggle at the yards of fabric alone. Decorative curtains are even more eye-catching, if, that is, the eyes are not distracted by the heavy-duty rods and drapery hardware it takes to hang these heavy panels. Installing curtain tracks is a better choice both practically and aesthetically, than using rods. One long curtain rod across the wall is impractical, and the brackets needed to hold it up won’t allow closing of the curtains if you want privacy, or to block out the light. Using multiple, shorter rods can make the wall look choppy, and still doesn’t allow the curtains to close. One ceiling or wall mounted curtain track solves all these problems. A track creates a smooth continuous flow to the curtain and the wall, and is inconspicuous, allowing the windows and curtains to get all the attention. Some tracks can even be recessed into the ceiling for a seamless floor-to-ceiling look.
