Moving From Tension Rods To Curtain Tracks
NO TENSION
We've written about the pros and cons of curtain rods in past blog articles but we haven't touched on tension rods. Tension rods are rods that use tension to stay in place. They are spring loaded with rubber tips on each end and are often used when someone is looking for a simple, inexpensive solution to a curtain hanging dilemma.
TOOL FREE
There are no tools required when installing a tension rod. In fact, one just needs to make sure the window space where they would like to place the tension rod is no wider than 84 inches as that is typically the largest size a tension rod is available. When using a tension rod, typically curtains must be lightweight. If the curtains are too heavy, the tension rod will bow or dip in the middle or the entire rod will slide down the wall trying to support the weight.
A BETTER SOLUTION
While there may be a place for tension rods (perhaps displaying a lightweight valance over a small window), these rods aren't made to support full length curtains. Curtain tracks are the best solution when hanging window coverings. Simple to install (we can walk you through the entire process and we promise, it's painless), curtain tracks are durable and the right track can cover small or large, short or tall windows, and the curtains that cover them. Wall mount or ceiling mount, plastic tracks or aluminum, curtain tracks allow you more options when hanging curtains with length and weight.
