Did you hit the Black Friday sales and purchase just a bit too much? Wondering how to hide or conceal everything? Consider creating storage space. It’s easy! We work with customers across the country who want to create a place to store items. Oftentimes, this area is in a basement or a corner of a garage. They just have some “stuff” (holiday decorations, bins of clothing, toys, high school yearbooks, etc.) that they want to conceal so it is out of the way. Depending on the space our customers choose, adding a ceiling mount curtain track and curtains can be a solution for your storage issues.
OPEN AND CLOSE
If the curtains are going to be opened and closed frequently, our Extra Heavy Duty Track is a perfect choice. Available in silver or black anodized aluminum, it has a thicker top wall for added support. It is available as a 12 foot track and cut to 8 ft. and 4 ft. or 6 ft. and 6 ft. sections for shipping and is compatible with our 7140 Double Wheel or 7146 Short Snap Carriers. If you have a drop ceiling, our 6155 Flexible Curtain Track Drop Ceiling Clamp, which allows you to attach the track directly to the framework of the drop ceiling and works particularly well with the 6100 Flexible Curtain Track, is another solid choice. Add curtains to your track and your storage space is ready to conceal your stuff!
You don't need to have a large house to create extra space to store items. The perfect curtain track and accessories, plus a little creativity, and you can create a storage space in your basement or garage. Have some doubts? Give us a call or visit our Gallery for innovative ideas!
As 2018 comes to a close, you might find yourself taking some extra vacation days before the end of the year. If you have some down time over the next few weeks and are wondering what you should do, it might be a good time to tackle a home project.
TACKLE A PROJECT
If you are looking to create a storage space in a basement or garage to conceal all of those Christmas gifts, convert your basement to the coolest movie room in the neighborhood, designate a space as a man cave so you can watch football all day long, or add bunk curtains or a room divider to your kid's room to keep the peace, look no further. At Curtain-Tracks, we offer, no surprise, curtain tracks plus all the accessories needed for all of these projects plus so many others. And if you aren’t a “handy person", no worries! The friendly customer service team at Curtain-Tracks is here to help you every step of the way.
If you live in a home with a sloped ceiling you may be wondering to yourself, "How in the world can I even hang curtains in this room?" We've heard it from other customers so you wouldn't be the first one with this question. We are here to assure you, it is indeed possible!
ON A SLANT
When it comes to mounting a curtain track and curtains on a ceiling with a slope or slant, we suggest you start with our product line of suspension hardware. Suspension hardware is designed to mount to a slanted or sloped ceiling but provides a track system that is horizontal, and above all, level. Depending on the room and the end design goal, many customers add curtains and drapes to the track to create a room divider. This is especially popular in loft apartments and condos and other rooms that have tall ceilings.
HOW LOW WILL YOU GO?
When we work with customers on a project like this, we talk about the room, the direction of the slant in the ceiling as well as how far down the track should go. We work with each customer to help them decide what track is best for the project, whether it's the 88001 Privacy Cubicle Track, an aluminum track in silver or white and available in 6 foot, 8 foot, 12 foot and 16 foot sections, the Privacy Cubicle Curtain Track 90 Degree Bend, a track bent to a 90 degree angle with a 12 inch bend radius measured on the inside edge of the track and can be spliced with straight sections for L" and "U" shaped configurations, or the Privacy Cubicle Curtain Track 45 Degree Bend, a track that can be bent to a 45 degree angle with a 12 inch bend radius measured on the inside edge of the track and has a 34 inch run in each direction.
Intimidated by all of this? Never fear - the Curtain-Tracks friendly customer service team is here to help! We love a challenge and are here to make sure you select the perfect track and accessories for your project. We will even help you with installation tips.
Don't let that sloped ceiling get you down... let us help you finish the design of the room!
NOT SO GREAT
Companies often boast that open work spaces allow for open communication and collaboration among team members but recent studies show it does just the opposite. An article recently published in Forbes states that, "31% of employees in open offices say they hold back their true thoughts and opinions while on calls in the office because they don’t want co-workers to hear and judge them." It also shares "1 in 8 (13%) of open office workers in the U.S. feel that their company’s office layout has pushed them to consider leaving their job and feel resentful towards more senior staff with private offices." Also, 1 in 3 workers feel distractions and noise from open work spaces hinder their productivity, while 1 in 6 say it hinders creativity as well. These are staggering statistics. So if your company office is an open work space, what are you to do?
BUILD A WALL
Constructing walls to create individual offices may not be realistic, or even within budget. But a simple solution to create private areas in an open office space is to install curtain tracks and eclipse curtains to create curtain "walls". Eclipse curtains help absorb sound so these curtain walls can be used to create smaller "phone booth" spaces so employees can speak with clients or customers and not feel like their conversation is being overheard by the entire office. Curtain walls can also be used to create conference rooms or huddle spaces. The beauty of creating these walls is when there is a need for an all-office meeting, simply pull the curtain walls back and open up the entire office space again.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED
Creating curtain walls may just be the answer your employees are looking for and Curtain-Tracks can help! We have the largest selection of online curtain tracks, hardware, accessories and curtains and our friendly customer service team will hep you through the entire project.
If you have a teenager, then you may notice they typically crave privacy and will often spend hours upon hours in their bedrooms. You may also be familiar with ever changing moods. (If not, congratulations!) With the amount of time they spend in their rooms and as often as their moods change, so may their design preferences when it comes to their bedrooms. If you have a teenager that is constantly asking if they can paint their room, get new bedroom furniture, and rearrange everything in their space. There is a compromise - make a simple update.
We came across this article on 28 Design Ideas For Upgrading Your Teen’s Bedroom but if you don’t want to read through all of these tips, here are a few we think you might like.
- Rearranging furniture in a bedroom costs nothing but shows your teenager you are willing to be a bit flexible. Go ahead and move that dresser near the window or allow them to put their bed on an angle.
- Freshen up a room by purchasing new light fixtures or lamps, replacing a ceiling fan or changing out artwork. You can even add removable cling design elements to walls. Updating the general "theme" of a room can make it feel like an entirely new space.
- Add new window treatments! Replace those old curtains with new, fun ones to match the other updates. Window treatments can tie the entire room together.
Large home stores can help with the first two areas and Curtain-Tracks is pleased to help with the last. We have the largest online selection of curtain tracks so you can find the best track for the project. Whether you are looking for a wall mount track or a ceiling mount track, we have what you need, along with all the accessories such as end stops, carriers and even curtains.
LOOK AT THAT SMILE
Keeping your teenager happy can be tough but being a bit flexible in the bedroom redecorating department may just earn you some brownie points and maybe even an extra smile.
CUT TO THE TAPE
CLOSETS, CLOSETS, CLOSETS
We've written several blog posts on removing closet doors. By removing the old doors to a closet, you can create more space and even update the look of the entire room. But what curtain track should you order (ceiling mount? wall mount? plastic? metal?)? For a project such as this, you have options.
BYE, BYE BI-FOLDS
C-T customer John M. used the 85000 CS Aluminum Curtain Track when he removed dated bi-fold doors on his closets. He installed sheer curtains and sent our team before and after picture of the closets. The transformation is amazing! He said, "Worked perfectly, thanks." Happy to help, John! This track is available in white, silver, or black. If you decide to go ahead with this track for your project, don't forget the end stops and carriers!
GET THE KIT
Another option is our 84003 Ceiling Mount Curtain track kit. This is a strong aluminum track that works well with smooth rolling ball bearing carriers. The track and brackets are available in silver or white. The kit has everything you need, including: one x 8 ft track (84003), twenty eight ball bearing carriers (2 bags - 84100), two metal end stops (84131), and six ceiling clips (84152). Curtain tracks have many benefits. They are easy to install and are high quality to ensure years and years of use. But there are additional accessories that accompany your high-quality curtain track and we have made it easy for our customers by offering curtain track kits. In fact, the 84004 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track Kit includes a strong 8-foot curtain track with pre-drilled mounting holes on 16-inch centers for ceiling mount applications. The 84004 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track utilizes smooth rolling ball bearing carriers and is available in silver or white. This kit includes everything you need to complete your project, including: one 8 ft track (84004), twenty-eight ball bearing carriers (2 bags - 84100), two metal end stops (84132). Tracks can be mounted end to end for wider applications, but it is critical to get them aligned during installation. Looking to add a wand kit? Check out the 84114 Kit that allows the overlapping of curtains when drawn.
We know this curtain track kit is fabulous but don’t just take it from us, take it from this Curtain-Tracks customer who says, “Used these for a 12 foot wall of windows and doors that were floor to ceiling so a curtain rod wouldn't work. These were easy to get up and what I loved is that I could slide a huge wall of curtains back to the side with ease using the wand and master carrier kit. These were used at our primary rear access door so we'd be moving them back and forth all the time. Having that smooth glide was a huge benefit in that sort of application. Going to buy some again for our patio door in our new house.”
JUST WHAT YOU NEED
When you are looking for curtain tracks for your next project, whether that be hanging curtains in your bedroom or over your sliding glass doors, the 84004 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track Kit may be just what you need.
We often hear of the "Open Floor Plan" that is ideal for socialization and entertaining. In fact, most new builds offer an open concept that includes a "Great Room" and large kitchen and eating space. This open concept fad has led many homeowners who reside in an older home to look at renovating their interior space by taking down walls. But according to Bloomberg News, "If closed floor plans are considered such a nuisance these days, why did they prevail for almost 100 years in single-family working- and middle-class suburban housing? The answer: closed floor plans make a lot of sense, from both an environmental and a living perspective." If you are a homeowner who loves their closed floor plan but find it a challenge to make use of an extra room or two, these ideas just may help you transform the space into a room you will actually use.
CREATE A READING ROOM
Transforming an unused room into a functional space can create an entirely new feel to the house and often results in a, "Why didn't I do this sooner" mentality. A reading room can be used for just that - reading. It can house books, favorite knick-knacks, and just be a comfortable and quiet space for praying and meditating. Adding bookshelves or building built-ins that go to the ceiling will allow you plenty of space for all your favorite treasures. Find comfortable seating and turn them so they face each other. This will create a welcoming space for coffee and conversations. We love the added beams to this room from House Beautiful.
CREATE A FITNESS ROOM
Whether you have a treadmill, Peloton bike, or love to do yoga, make use of that currently unused space in your home by converting it into a fitness room. Clear the area of any unwanted or unneeded items and paint the room a soothing color like Green Earth CW-455 or Silver Mist 1619, both by Benjamin Moore paints. If you enjoy working out to music, add a speaker system or use a bluetooth speaker. Add some curtains on a ceiling or wall mount curtain track so the neighbors can't watch you sweat, and then you are ready to burn some calories!
CREATE A BAR
You read that right. If your dining room isn't being used and you think the square footage would be better suited as a bar, then go for it! We love this dining room conversion into a bar from Chateau Kitchens on Twitter. For this project, they removed the carpet, chair railing and furniture, and replaced the flooring, added a seating area and a fantastic bar. They also removed the door and opened up the room to the kitchen making this space extra inviting. Cheers!
YOU CAN DO THIS
If you have a room in your house that just isn't getting the use you would like, transform it! Making simple changes can make a big difference.
Did you know 18% of the workforce works from home? That's almost 2 out of every 10 people! With coronavirus hitting the United States in March, that number has increased dramatically. Now as businesses look to return to a "new normal", they are evaluating the effectiveness of remote employees vs. having a physical office space for their team. Studies show that employees that work from home can be just as productive, if not more so, than those who work in an office space. In fact, one study cites that 77% reported higher productivity as remote work allows for more flexibility with work schedules. If your temporary work from home situation has become permanent, do you have an office space that encourages productivity and is equipped to enable success?
You may have been on a Zoom call with a colleague who is working remote and noticed a child or dog in the background. Perhaps they are in a space that is clearly the kitchen table or a bedroom. For those who have not anticipated their office space to reside in their home for months on end, they may not be properly equipped in a space that is best suited to be successful. To transition a space into a home office, there are some factors to consider:
1. Does the space allow for privacy?
2. Is there ample light and strong connectivity for technology?
3. Is the size large enough that it can fit all needed equipment but not be distracting?
For the first point and if the space allows for privacy, if your new home office is located in a public area like a kitchen, distractions can be at a peak. Moving your office to a basement if available or a guest room with a door, will allow you focus with less interruptions. For a basement, consider adding curtain tracks and curtains around a space that will be designated at "the office". Curtains can be closed when you need privacy for a call or open when you are heads down working on a project. One evening and weekends, close those curtains again so kids are discouraged from wandering over to your space. If you have a drop ceiling, the 85000 track system along with 85510 Drop Ceiling Clips work well together.
When it comes to ample light, if your new office doesn't have access to windows, invest in quality light fixtures and desk lamp. It is important to create a comfortable space where you can easily spend 8 hours a day. The same does for internet connection. Best Buy offers several options to ensure fast internet connectivity.
Finally, is the space large enough that you can fit a desk and ergonomically fit chair? Sitting on a wood chair at the kitchen table could be a temporary solution to working at home but if you are at home for the long run, consider investing in an office chair that will be comfortable. Your new office space should be able to accommodate the proper equipment for your new workspace.
If your work from home situation has been extended to 2021 or beyond, take the time to make your space comfortable, functional and equipped for success.
For some who were born and raised in suburbs and neighborhoods, when a new job calls for a move, they consider downtown living as an option. A recent study done by the Downtown Cleveland Alliance shows the population in Downtown Cleveland has grown 48% between 2013 and 2018. Many move to cities not only for the change of pace and scenery, but they also are attracted to the close proximity to sporting events, restaurants, and attractions. The amenities that come along with city living can be great but when it comes to the actual size of the new home, several people choose to downsize. Many choose something completely opposite from the traditional home that they may be accustomed to, such as a loft.
Lofts offer tall ceilings and wide-open spaces which can make even the smallest apartment or condo feel larger. With a loft, you can make whatever you want out of the space including creating individual living areas with furniture set-up, rugs, and curtains or partitions to create more privacy and space. Looking to create a separate space for your bedroom? Adding the 3120 Extra Heavy Duty Curtain Track to your ceiling will allow you to properly divide your space when you add floor to ceiling curtains. This track is made for heavy applications and is compatible with 7140 Double Wheel or 7146 Short Snap Carriers. Love those tall windows and all that natural light but looking for some occasional privacy? The 3120 track can work for that as well.
COOLEST KID IN TOWN
Lofts can be super cool places to live and entertain. If you decide to make the move, Curtain-Tracks can help you make your new home the coolest place on the block.
SPRING IS IN THE AIR
Spring isn’t just for spring cleaning, it’s also for making some design updates in your home. Updating a room doesn’t mean you have to put all your furniture on the curb for someone else to take and purchasing all new. Making updates can be simple and affordable.
Making a fresh update can be as simple as adding a new accent color to your space. Adding throw pillows with splashes of a new and unexpected color can make a statement in a room. Splashes of orange or yellow can make a neutral room fun and welcoming. Lauren Lowe of Lauren Elaine Interiors says, "We are loving soft yellows used as a neutral or as an accent to pretty blues, and ochre and mustard block prints paired with earthy tones. We would love to see a room painted soft yellow with lots of stained antique case pieces and layered with collections and treasures." You can also continue with that color theme by adding a vase or picture and even, dare we say, curtains!
REPLACE THE OLD WITH NEW
Replace tired old curtains with new ones! A fresh new pattern on your panels will instantly make an impact. And of course, hang them from durable, and affordable, ceiling or wall mount curtain tracks and use glides that allow for easy opening and closing. Add a wand to avoid messy fingerprints on your new statement-making curtains and your redesign of your space is complete.
ON A BUDGET
Redesigning a space doesn’t have to cost a ton of money. Making some of these subtle updates can make a large impact. For more ideas and inspiration about current hot color trends, check out this article in Veranda. Happy decorating and Happy Spring!
