We recently received some great images of an outdoor curtain installation in Oakland, TN from one of our customers and wanted to share them. Jerry C. fabricated his own outdoor curtains from a Sunbrella outdoor fabric. This outdoor fabric will hold up well in the elements, and provides shade while still offering some transparency through the curtains based upon the weave of the fabric. The intent was to provide shade for the covered patio behind their home, and we really like the look of this finished do-it-yourself (DIY) project.
TAKE IT OUTSIDE
Hanging curtains outdoors may not be on the mind of many people right now, especially those living in colder climates, but using curtains to enhance the look and functionality of outdoor spaces is becoming increasingly common. Extending our living space outside allows us to utilize spaces such as porches, patios and decks, more often. Curtains can serve many purposes including protection against the sun, wind, and even mosquitoes. They also can improve the overall appearance of your outdoor space and be used to provide privacy around pools and hot tubs, pergolas and cabanas.
SO MANY OPTIONS
There are many options when it comes to selecting curtain tracks for your outdoor space. One Curtain-Tracks customer used the RECMAR 42124 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track on her lanai that surrounds her pool. She mounted the track to the frame and added snap tape and snap carriers. This aluminum curtain track is available in silver or black and can be mounted end to end for longer lengths. The 42124 track is compatible with 3 different carriers: 7120 Single Snap Carrier (used with 3090 snap tape), 7122 Button Carrier w/ Stainless Hook, and 7124 Button Carrier and the 7127 end stop. Another option is the RECMAR 3118 Aluminum Ceiling Mount Track. This is a silver anodized aluminum curtain track with satin finish. It can be mount to a pergola and mounting brackets are not required. Other tracks that work exceptionally well in outdoor spaces are curtain tracks 3120 and 84004. If you need a curtain track that can support heavy curtains, we recommend the 16 Gauge Galvanized Steel track.

GET OUT AND STAY OUT
Many people enjoy spending time outdoors long into the fall season. If you are looking for products that can enhance your pergola or porch covering, we have a wide selection of products that work well in the outdoors and are designed and built to withstand and hold up to even the harshest outdoor conditions.
QUALITY IS OUR MIDDLE NAME
Adding a curtain track and curtains to a pergola or porch can provide added protection against wind or rain and we pride ourselves on providing products that are the very best. Available in either 8 foot length plus 4 foot length or two 6 foot pieces (12 feet total), it mounts to the pergola or roof ceiling and mounting brackets are not required. IN THE SOUTH
A Curtain-Tracks friend recently visited the west coast of Florida. On their visit, they noticed a beautiful home that had three levels of porches. Unfortunately, these porches all faced west which meant they received the brunt of the hot afternoon sun. Luckily the home owners were creative and added curtain tracks and curtains that are not only functional but look great, too!
We have had the opportunity to work with customers all across the country on creating outdoor spaces. We suggest a few different tracks for outdoor use including the 6100 Medium Weight, 6100-Heavy Weight, 3120, 84004 and 84003 curtain tracks. If you are looking for a track that will support heavy curtains hung from high ceilings, we suggest the 16 Gauge Galvanized Steel track.
Once you have installed your tracks, you can add our steel hooks. These hooks are sturdy and easily attach to any carrier with a ring to allow for curtains with holes or grommets.
Revitalize your outdoor space and make it new again by adding curtain tracks and curtains to protect against the hot afternoon sun and even rain. Our blog has an entire section dedicated to outdoor curtains and projects to provide ideas and inspiration. Let us know how we can help you with your outdoor project!
Pool owners, have you ever had a B-B-Q and pool party and you didn’t invite your next-door neighbors, yet they can see all of the fun happening right there in your backyard? Awkward… Sometimes neighbors can seem just a little too close. For times like these when you are looking for a bit of privacy around your pool, we have a solution. Read on to learn more!
POOL + PRIVACY
A previous blog article on this very topic was so popular, we wanted to revisit it. Jennifer W., a Curtain-Tracks customer, was super creative in her backyard when she wanted to create some privacy around her pool. She added the 42124 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track along the frame of her lanai, along with snap tape and snap carriers and weather proof curtains. This is an aluminum curtain track, available in silver or black, can be mounted end to end for longer lengths, and is compatible with 3 different carriers: 7120 Single Snap Carrier (used with 3090 snap tape), 7122 Button Carrier with Stainless Hook, and 7124 Button Carrier and the 7127 end stop.
When Jennifer has the curtains open and pulled back to the side, the curtains create a welcoming, homey look to the lanai and pool area. But when she pulls them closed, they create a veil of privacy around the entire pool. Not only that, when the curtains are pulled closed, they also help contain sound. So, if there is a pool party with lots of kids having a great time, the squeals of laughter will be somewhat contained and the next-door neighbors can’t peer in to see who is at the party. This same concept of adding curtains outside can also be applied to a pergola or outdoor porch.
This summer enjoy some privacy in your backyard, in your pool, or on your porch, by adding curtain tracks and curtains!
IS IT SPRING YET?
February can seem like a long month. The days are still short, the weather is cold and skies are often gray throughout much of the country. The Team at Curtain-Tracks is here to help cheer you up and beat those winter blues with an outdoor project that will motivate you and get you wishing for sunny skies!
ENJOY THE OUTDOORS
We often talk to customers that share a common dilemma - how can they use curtains tracks and curtains outside so they can enjoy their yard even during wind, rain or scorching afternoon sun? A simple solution that allows you to enhance your outdoor living space includes adding curtain tracks and curtains along a pergola. Our 6100 flexible curtain track is durable and holds up well, even in inclement weather. We recommend pairing it with the 6152 ceiling cartridges and our 6111 carriers because, like the 6100 track, they stand up well in the outdoor elements. Simply add curtains (a heavier canvas curtain is effective and looks great) and when not in use, simply tie them back at the corners.
If you don’t have a pergola and instead prefer to spend time in a summer room or 2-seasons room, extend the use of the room by adding curtain tracks and curtains. They will allow protection from wind and shade from the sun. Plus, adding durable curtains in a fun color can enhance the look of the entire room.
After you order your products, you may seem a bit overwhelmed. You can relax. We have simple instructions on our website and if you still have installation questions, our friendly customer service team is here to help. Just give them a call or send them an email.

Nearly every year, it seems Puxatawney Phil predicts winter will last a little longer, but the calendar officially tells us that spring is here. And if your house is anything like ours, that means the honey-do list has grown to include lots of outdoor projects. At Curtain-Tracks, we like to suggest you move one of those projects to the top of the list: Adding Curtains to Your Pergola. This outdoor project makes for a great first spring project for a few reasons.
BANG FOR YOUR BUCK
Adding curtains to your pergola is easier than it sounds plus it gives a lot of bang for your buck. Simply adding a curtain track and some durable curtains, and your outdoor living space transforms from drab to classy. You can a lot of fabric to create a lush, layered effect. For a light, airy, and beachy feel, try using a sheer fabric that can easily blow in the breeze. For a more rustic look, try a textured fabric like burlap that will add great depth to the space. A simple and rustic tie back such as twine or even a small cut of the same fabric will allow the curtains to be out of the way when you don’t need them but still add another layer of design.
A PLACE TO RELAX
We suggest bumping this project to the top of your honey-do list so you can create a cozy retreat to enjoy after a long day of yard work (and all of the other to-do items on your list). Imagine mowing and weeding the yard in between soccer games this weekend and then being able to sit back with an adult beverage to admire your hard work. Would it be more relaxing underneath your bare pergola that needs a coat of stain or would it be more relaxing behind fresh curtains blowing in the wind? We know which we’d prefer as we toast our family for a job well done.
STAND UP TO THE ELEMENTS
Not only are Curtain-Tracks products exceptional for changing the aesthetics of your patio, but they are functional as well. Using our plastic tracks for outdoor use is a great choice because they won’t rust in the elements. You could also try our steel hooks for the same reason; they won’t rust and the look is simply classic.
So, the next time you are looking at your to-do list, consider drawing an arrow to the top of the list from the “update pergola” item. You won’t be sorry. And, bonus! We will help you place the order so you don’t forget any measurements or hardware. Heck, you can even call us right from your patio: 1-888-434-7444.
As Thanksgiving approaches with Christmas and New Year's Eve following shortly thereafter, many people enjoy the opportunity to decorate their homes and businesses. It is special time of year, and the interior designer comes out in all of us. While we are all for this burst of creativity, we want to be sure it is not accompanied by a burst of flames, busted lip, or a trip to the emergency room. Therefore, we offer these common sense reminders that emphasize safety as you are choosing your decorations, their location, and their maintenance. Please review them as a helpful reminder!
NO MORE PROCRASTINATION
Americans are staying home more and while they are hunkering down, they are tackling those long-awaited home improvement projects. Contractors are busier than ever and home improvement stores are bustling with DIYers. In fact, according to the Wall Street Journal, "Daily foot traffic to Home Depot stores since April has been running at least 35% above last year’s, according to Unacast Inc., which tracks location data from 25 million cellphones on any given day. In 26 states, traffic doubled following a surge in late May." If this sounds like you, read on because we have some easy and affordable updates that you can complete all on your own.
Swap out those old dated curtain rods for seamless curtain tracks and freshen up the room with new curtains. Curtain tracks, unlike rods, can be mounted to the ceiling or the wall and the smooth track allows for seamless opening and closing due to the curtain carriers or glides. These carriers help the curtains smoothly - and quietly - glide along the track, unlike large curtain rings that are often found on curtain rods. Curtain tracks are also extremely durable as they are affixed in various places along the track. With curtain rods, the bracket can easily pull out of the wall causing you to take on a whole new project: drywall repair.
Studies show that the average person spends at least 30 minutes in the bathroom every day. If that sounds accurate to you, maybe it's time to switch out that tired curtain rod and update your bathroom by adding a ceiling mount curtain track, drop chains and a sleek new shower curtain? For many of the same reasons listed above, curtain tracks are super sturdy and they look great, plus they create a sleek, modern and fresh look to your bathroom.
Curtain tracks aren't just for living rooms and bathrooms, they can be used outside. Adding curtain tracks and weatherproof curtains to your porch or pergola can help protect against the hot afternoon sun and windy days and they also allow for privacy. Some great products for a project like this include: the 3120 Heavy Duty Curtain Track in Silver, the 7127 Stainless Steel End Stops, 7140 Large Double Wheel Carriers and 7142 Stainless Steel Curtain Hooks.
TAKE ON THAT PROJECT
Each of these projects can be completed easily and quickly. So whether one, or all, of these projects are on your Honey-Do list, we have you covered. For the best selection of curtain tracks, curtains, hardware and accessories, look no further than www.curtain-tracks.com.
Sliding glass doors and floor to ceiling glass walls provide spectacular views to residents lucky enough to live on a beach or lake, near mountains, or simply those with a beautiful backyard flower garden. We encounter customers every day asking for advice on what hardware they can use to hang curtains or draperies in these type applications. These type sliding glass doors and glass walls are common in condominiums, apartments, and high rises. Given the frequency of these discussions, we wanted to share a few thoughts on hardware selection and also share a few images to help inspire you.
Did you ever make a clubhouse when you were a kid? Maybe it was behind a stack of sofa cushions, inside a tree house or under a snow fort, but the greatest thing about it was that it was your own personal space that no one could intrude upon. Today, even as adults, we need privacy, especially in certain situations. How can you get privacy in open spaces? Privacy curtains.
A NICE SOAK
There are many therapeutic benefits to enjoying a nice, long, relaxing soak in a hot tub. The warm water can ease muscle soreness and arthritis pain and may also lead to a night of deeper sleep. But if you have an outdoor hot tub, you just may want a little bit of privacy from your next door neighbors. Curtain-Tracks.com can help!
For a project like this, we suggest placing your hot tub in a serene space (or as serene as possible). That may be next to a tree or two or some bushes. Then to enhance the space, you can add a simple pergola around your hot tub. A pergola project may seem daunting, but there are many ready-to-assemble pergola kits available and you can find the perfect design for your space.
RUB A DUB DUB
Once you assemble your pergola, you can add curtain tracks, carriers and curtains along the inside of the frame. A great track for a project like this would be the 6100 Flexible Curtain Track. One of our most popular tracks, the 6100 can be bent by hand and allows for long continuous lengths for curved or angled applications, but can also be used for straight applications. Made of white PVC with an internal metal spine, it can be mounted on a wall or ceiling. Another option is the 3118 Aluminum Ceiling Mount Track. The 3118 is a silver anodized aluminum curtain track with satin finish. Available in either 8 foot length plus 4 foot length or two 6 foot pieces (12 feet total), it mounts to the pergola and mounting brackets are not required. Once you build your pergola and add your curtain tracks, you just need to select carriers and curtains to complete your private oasis of relaxation!

Curtain-Tracks.com is pleased to announce the addition of custom sized shower curtains to our product offering. This affords our customers a choice to purchase taller and wider sizes than what is available via retail stores. Whether it's extra tall shower curtains to account for a ceiling mounted track, or a wider curtain to wrap around a claw foot tub or form a shower enclosure for a corner shower, these shower curtains are the answer. These custom made shower curtains are available in commercial grade vinyl (including a clear vinyl), nylon, or waffle poly/cotton blend fabrics. The durability of these materials and sturdy construction set these shower curtains apart from off the shelf shower curtains.
Your RV is like a second home on the road, and it should be outfitted with all the comforts of home, including curtains. On RVs, curtains play a more varied role than simply providing privacy from the windows outside. They may be used to partition off bunks or close showers. You also have the option to use them to block out light and/or cold from exterior windows by choosing light blocking or insulating material for your RV curtains.
As we have mentioned in past blog entries, Curtain-Tracks.com offers bunk curtains that are often used in ships and on oil rigs to provide privacy in the berths. But bunk curtains are certainly not limited to these commercial applications. Whether you may be trying to provide some privacy in bedrooms shared by siblings, or perhaps in a beach house or ski chalet where there are multiple bunks in guest rooms to provide greater sleeping capacity, bunk curtains may be just what you need.
Warmer weather is certainly on its way, which means a few things for me. First of all, I need to make sure the storm drains are clear so that when all the snow melts, we won’t have a flood in our front yard (I live close enough to Lake Michigan, I don’t need a smaller version at the onset of my porch). But aside from that daunting task, it also means fun things like planning my spring garden selections and prepping our boat for future outings once again.
HERE COMES THE SUN
For those who are fortunate to live in southern states during these cold winter months, you may be spending some time outdoors. If this is the case, why not create some privacy like C-T customer Jennifer W. did when she added curtain tracks to her lanai?
KEEP THE PEACE
Jennifer has a pool with a great lanai surrounding it. To create some privacy, she wanted to add curtains that could be left open or pulled closed for privacy. She decided to use the 42124 Ceiling Mount Curtain Track mounted to the frame of her lanai along with snap tape and snap carriers.
To complete the look, she used weather-proof material for her curtains. The beauty of adding curtains and curtain tracks to an outdoor space like this is it doesn’t just create visual privacy from the neighbors, but it can also help contain sound. For example, if you have kids who love to play and yell in the pool, curtains can help keep the sound from traveling to the neighbors. Adding curtains to a lanai can also be helpful when it comes to sun protection. Many lanais offer UV protection but not all screen enclosures do. Adding UV protected curtains can be helpful when it comes to sun protection.
Even if you don't live in a part of the country that has warm days throughout the year, you can still start thinking about a summer project where you add curtain tracks and curtains to your lanai, screened in porch or pergola. We have everything you need!
