In 1967, Pierre Le Vec and Pierre Moulin opened a shop in Greenwich Village in NYC with the intent of bringing the beauty of French Country decor to America. They quickly discovered that the curtains, pillows and fabrics they used to accent the furniture sold spectacularly. Over time, the business evolved to include décor for every room in the house. Presently, Pierre Deux is a growing national chain of retail stores that continue that original focus.
It’s been said that great design never goes out of style, and we’d like to share some evidence of that claim. Given our interest in all things related to curtain tracks, we’ve come across an interesting piece of history regarding a classic curtain track design. In England during World War II, it became increasingly important for residents to be in a perpetual state of readiness for air raids. At night, people’s lives depended on blacking out any light visible outside homes and offices for fear that the light would serve as a target during bombing raids. Curtains and the accompanying tracks served an important role in helping to mask these structures after nightfall. As a result, the curtain tracks shown below in this Woolworth (or as the Brits commonly referred to is, Woolies) advertisement from 1940 highlight the ability to “Blackout with EZE.” In fact, these curtain tracks (or rails as they were commonly referred to) were one of the few metal items that continued to be made available to consumers during the height of the war as raw material shortages became an issue for manufacturers.
The folks at YellowBrickHome.com have been great customers and been generous in sharing both praise for our company and products, as well as pictures of their projects. They recently shared a clever installation tip with their readers that is applicable for many of our customers installing curtain track and drapery hardware where holes are being drilled into drywall or sheetrock. By placing the nozzle of a running vacuum cleaner below the bit while drilling, you can avoid having to sweep up the chalk dust that is generated . The vacuum will catch the dust before it makes a mess.

We will occasionally hear customers comment about the shipping costs charged by Curtain-Tracks.com to ship the long curtain tracks and we want to provide additional information that will help you as a customer understand the basis of the charges. We understand that they may seem high as compared to most items ordered online. However, the size and shape of our products are quite different than those of a book or a pair of shoes. The shipping costs charged are reflective of the costs incurred to deliver the products to your door. Shipping charges are not a profit center for our company.
Beginning with Wally Byam's dream to build the perfect travel trailer, Airstream travel trailers have been manufactured for over 70 years. The classic and efficient designs of those early trailers are still present in today's models, with the look of the Airstream mostly unchanged. Airstreams have certainly stood the test of time and their popularity continues to grow (as documented in the Today Show segment provided below), particularly as the RV industry begins to show signs that the US economy is indeed picking up some momentum on its way to a recovery.
Most orders placed through Curtain-Tracks.com are shipped the next business day, excluding holidays.
