Don't Be Intimidated By Tall Windows
SOPHISTICATED
We recently stayed in a hotel in downtown Chicago and were immediately impressed with the décor in the lobby. The architecture was stunning and the tall windows with curtain tracks behind the lobby bar were absolutely fantastic. The tall windows drew the eyes up and made the space feel elegant and sophisticated.
DON’T BE INTIMIDATED
Decorating tall windows doesn’t have to be intimidating. You can create an elegant look in your own home (even if the ceiling isn’t quite as tall as a hotel lobby), simply by adding the right track. One type of curtain track that is useful for tall windows is our 3120 Extra Heavy Duty Curtain Track. It has a thicker top wall for added support and is available in Silver or Black anodized aluminum. This track is compatible with 7140 Double Wheel or 7146 Short Snap Carriers.
ADDING CURTAINS
Once your tracks are installed, you need to decide on the curtains. Oftentimes, our customers will add a simple set of sheers. This creates some privacy while still allowing light to shine in. To add a more dramatic effect, you can add billowing curtains that can be open or drawn closed. Next, consider the length of your curtains. There are two schools of thought on curtain length: 1.) Curtains just hit the floor, or 2.) Curtains break slightly and extend to the floor 3-4 inches. The second option creates a look that is a bit more relaxed. After you decide on the length, consider the width of the curtains. We suggest curtains have a combined width that is 2 to 2½ times the width of the window which will create fullness even when the curtains are drawn closed.
